Children's Hope Dinner to feature Scott Hamilton, honor Paige Rippey Locke

Best known as Olympic Gold Medalist, ice skating commentator and cancer survivor, Scott Hamilton will share another significant aspect of his life -- family and adoption -- at the 3rd Annual Children’s Hope Dinner benefiting Orphan Outreach, set for Thursday, April 21.
 
Supporting the organization’s work to provide for vulnerable children and orphans in some of the world’s most impoverished areas, Hamilton will reveal his touching personal story of being adopted as a baby and how he and his wife recently adopted two children from Haiti. The event will also honor Paige Rippey Locke with this year’s Children’s Hope Award for her compassionate work with orphans.

Just a few years ago, Hamilton and his wife, Tracie, adopted two children from Haiti – Evelyne and Jean Paul -- joining their two biological children Maxx and Aidan. Our hearts and family are full, thanks to the blessing of adoption,” said Hamilton. I am thrilled to be able to share my story at the upcoming Children’s Hope Dinner, and to support Orphan Outreach’s mission to serve orphans in critical need around the world.”

The Children’s Hope Dinner supports Orphan Outreach’s programs, which provide vulnerable children with basic survival needs and education. The Dinner was founded by Dallas philanthropist Jimmy Westcott, after a heart-wrenching mission trip to visit Russian orphanages. Westcott felt led to help raise awareness and urgently needed funds in support of the organization’s mission to serve some of the world’s most neglected children.

On Friday evening, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF hosted the 2nd annualChildrens First: An Evening with UNICEF gala at Sixty Five Hundred in Dallas, Texas, which raised funds to support UNICEF’s mission to save and improve children’s lives.

The event honored actress Alyssa Milano with the Spirit of Compassion Award for her work in support of children throughout 13 years as a UNICEF Ambassador.  Pier 1 Imports also received the UNICEF Children First Award, accepted by President and CEO Alex W. Smith, for their 31-year commitment to raising funds and awareness for the organization, while Sterling McDavid, UNICEF Next Generation National Development Committee Chair, was presented with the inaugural NextGen Champion for Children Award, for her dedication to helping children globally.

Over the course of the evening, guests enjoyed a performance by country singer Sara Evans, a seated dinner and a live auction presented by Louis Murad. More than 330 guests attended the gala hosted by Nancy C. and Richard R. Rogers raising over $730,000 in support of UNICEF’s work.

The School in a Box kit contains supplies and materials for a teacher and up to 40 students. The purpose of the kit is to ensure the continuation of children's education by the first 72 hours of an emergency.

The party, sponsored by Moose Knuckles, featured musical lineup headlined by Justin Bieber’s official tour DJ, DJ Tay James, with early sets by THE WIG, Nimo Lero, and Sted-E & Hybrid Heights. Proceeds from the event benefitted FCancer programs.

Friends of the Warren Center host Kickoff for the Art of Music Gala, Synesthesia

The Friends of The Warren Center hosted a kickoff for the Inaugural Art of Music Gala Synesthesia on Thursday, May 5th at Hotel ZaZa’s Art House. Over 100 guests enjoyed light bites from Hotel ZaZa’s Dragonfly restaurant while sipping on house wine, Moscow Mule cocktails and local Dallas beers. All sponsored by Ben Smithee and Hotel ZaZa. Guests also enjoyed live painting by Christina Yielding and music by UT Arlington’s jazz trio group.

The Art of Music Gala will include five renowned musicians who will compose an original composition inspired by this year’s theme of “Synesthesia” - a neurological phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway. Imagine that when you see a city's skyline, you taste blackberries. Or maybe when you hear a violin, you feel a tickle on your left knee. Perhaps you are completely convinced that Wednesdays are light red. If you have experiences like these, you might have synesthesia.

Each composition will then be delivered to five world-class artists to create five one of a kind works of art - purely inspired by the compositions. The result is a night of celebration and performance where each original composition and its inspired work of art will be unveiled and performed live at the Gala.
 
Each completely unique piece of art and original manuscript/recording of the compositions that inspired will be auctioned off live, with the proceeds going directly to The Warren Center.

Children's Cancer Fund Gala 2016 Surpassed Fundraising Goal {Recap and Photos}

The Children’s Cancer FundAnnual Gala, themed “An Evening in Oz,” the nonprofit’s 28th annual fundraiser held on April 22, raised over $820,000 for pediatric oncology research and treatment programs, surpassing its $750,000 fundraising goal. The spring event is the organization’s largest annual fundraiser for pediatric cancer.

Proceeds from the Gala go to Children’s Cancer Fund to support pediatric cancer research and treatment programs at Children's Medical Center. Since 1982, Children’s Cancer Fund has donated more than $7 million to the childhood cancer cause.

Children’s Cancer Fund was founded 33 years ago by a coalition of parents whose children were receiving cancer therapy at Children’s Medical Center.  The organizers have since been joined by community leaders, dedicated volunteers, and health professionals in their fundraising efforts.

After-School All-Stars (ASAS) North Texas gives these youth a safe haven during the “danger zone” hours of 4-6pm - the time of day when youth violence, drug use, and other delinquent behaviors are most likely to occur. ASAS provides free, comprehensive after-school programs that are keeping hundreds of Dallas youth safe and helping them succeed in school and in life.

Wilkinson Center Young Friend White Party Kick-Off event {with Society Pics}

On May 4th, The Young Friends of the Wilkinson Center hosted the kick-off event for their upcoming White Party.  About 700 people came out to Happiest Hour to show their support and celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
 
Guests were able to purchase Young Friend memberships, White Party tickets, White Party Sponsorships and tables,  and take part in a raffle to win a VIP table at the White Party.  In addition, guests that purchased any of these items received free margaritas and tacos during the happy hour.  DJ Souljah provided a range of beats throughout the evening keeping guest entertained.
 
Entertainment was provided by DJ Souljah.  Happiest Hour graciously donated tacos and margaritas.  Event photographer was Lisa Means.
 
The Young Friends of the Wilkinson Center will host its fifth annual White Party Benefit at 6500 Cedar Springs on Saturday, June 4th.  This is the biggest fundraiser for the Young Friends of Wilkinson Center and it brought in over $100,000 last year with more than 1000 people in attendance.
 
Presenting sponsor is Park Place Dealerships.  They featured a Porsche 911 at the kick-off party and gave away goodie bags from its trunk to the first 25 guests!

Mosaic Family Services announces Councilmember Jennifer Staubach Gates as the recipient of the 2016Champion of Human Rights Award, which will be presented at the nonprofit’s 7thAnnual Gala on Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 7 – 11 p.m. at The Empire Room in the Dallas Design District.

The Champion of Human Rights Award is presented each year to individuals and/or groups who strive to ensure the protection of the basic human rights and fundamental freedoms to which all human beings are entitled. Councilmember Gates has shown remarkable dedication to making a difference in the lives of Dallas residents, particularly survivors of domestic violence. Her extraordinary work with the Domestic Violence Task Force and Public Safety Committee continues to bring awareness to human rights abuses and empowers the agency’s clients.

“Councilmember Jennifer Staubach Gates has been at the forefront of leading efforts in Dallas to raise awareness about family violence,” remarked  Melissa Green, event co-chair and Mosaic Family Services board member. “As she continues her work combating this all too prevalent issue, we are pleased to honor her as a Champion of Human Rights. It was a Groovy Night at the 1960s-themed 4th Annual History with a Twist

Blue and white VW Beetles, a yellow Thunderbird, and a pink Cadillac flanked the entrance of Dallas Heritage Village’s History with a Twist, providing a perfect picture spot for the almost 400 guests decked out in rose-colored glasses, Sgt. Pepper jackets, flared and flowered pants, tie dye, headbands, beads, boots, peace signs, wigs, and Jackie Kennedy-appropriate attire.

Twist’s usual 1920’s theme jumped ahead 40 years to the 1960s in honor of the Village’s 50th anniversary.  Presented by Sidley Austin, LLP, the 4th annual fundraiser was held on Main Street at Dallas Heritage Village.   Tables lined Main Street all the way to the vintage photo wagon set up to capture fun memories at the end of the street, and guests enjoyed Blue Mesa Catering and festive cocktails created by Brian McCullough of The Standard Pour.

  • Segment lists based on behaviors like past email engagement and website interactions (content downloads, site page visits, etc.).
  • Measure results and optimize the lead nurturing workflows for these segments to convert leads into customers.
  • Work to minimize list decay and unsubscribes while increasing the productivity of our email sends.
  • Develop documentation and road maps for processes, A/B tests, and promotions that succeed through email.

Job Requirements
Education:  BA/BS or equivalent working experience.
Experience:  3 + years experience with email marketing, lead nurturing, marketing automation, and web analytics.

Skills/Abilities
  • Experience with Constant Contact, MailChimp desired. Highly desired is Salesforce.com Marketing Cloud (ExactTarget).
  • Excellent understanding of email marketing concepts and metrics such as Sender Score, deliverability, and sender reputation.
  • Proficiency in email marketing and marketing automation technology.
  • Highly analytical and able to derive meaning from data through A/B testing and email optimization.
  • Excellent writer and communicator (in both the written and verbal form).
  • Comfortable coding in HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
  • Develop templates that are responsive to accept device-independent sizing requirements.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to HTML templates, list segmentation and other aspects of email execution, as required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction, while also functioning and contributing as part of a team.

The Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) hosted Art Ball 2016: Art + Architecturewith more than 400 guests on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the Dallas Museum of Art. Ann and David Sutherland served as this year’s Art Ball Co-chairs.

At 7:45 p.m., a 30-foot tall curtain dramatically opened revealing another Todd Events masterpiece of contemporary reds, greens, and yellows. Sprays of yellow florals, moss drenched chandeliers, and oversized head tables in the shape of a plus sign tied the room into a sensory wonderland.

The Dallas String Quartet provided lively and electric dinner entertainment while patrons feasted on a multi-course dinner catered by Cassandra Fine Catering, which included lobster, duck and fish courses. The live auction, assembled by interior architectural designer Trisha Wilson and sponsored by Christie’s, proved spectacular with items including a Dallas sports package, Napa Valley Wine country getaway and an African Safari at the Izingwe Lodge, a private South African lodge home on the 82,000-acre Welgevonden Private Game Reserve, located in the Waterburg mountain region.

Helping Our Heroes Foundation kicked off its annual dinner and golf tournament fundraiser on May 9, 2016 at Ocean Prime Dallas.

The night proceeded with the announcement of the 2016 Guest of Honor General James F. Amos, the presidential nominee who assumed duty as the 35th Commandant of the Marine Corps. Two checks for $25,000 were also presented to the 2015 beneficiaries: Folds of Honor, which provides annual educational scholarships to the families of those killed or disabled while in active duty, and Semper Fi Fund, which provides immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to critically ill and injured members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces.

This year’s fundraiser includes a dinner on September 11, 2016, at Frontiers of Flight Museum, which will mark the 15th anniversary of 9/11, followed by a golf tournament at Brookhaven Country Club on September 12, 2016. In the past five years, Helping Our Heroes has donated more than $735,000 to selected beneficiaries.

Taste of the NFL Hosts 12th Annual Ultimate Cowboys Tailgate

The North Texas Food Bank is grateful for your support in making Taste of the NFL a tremendous success! Gourmet tailgate fare, signature cocktails, live entertainment, silent and live auctions, and fun tailgate games were available for the North Texans in attendance.
 
Results indicate that there was a nearly 16% increase in revenue over last year’s event, an incredible feat for the North Texas Food Bank and all those who assisted in making this another remarkable event. Over $428,000 was raised, providing 1.28 million meals for those in need.
The field at AT&T Stadium proved the perfect space for this fun event.
Chef Kent Rathbun and more than 20 of the area's hottest chefs served gourmet fare in small portions for this tailgate party.
Texas country artist and song writer Jack Ingram entertained guests.
The event would not have been possible without the help of these fabulous volunteers!

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the recruitment, selection, training, placement and ongoing management of volunteers along with managing relationships with areas of volunteer service throughout Children's Health.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic relationships with various departments and areas of service throughout the organization to provide placements for volunteer service. This includes developing and maintaining successful volunteer positions, training, and ongoing management efforts.
  • Recruit appropriate individual volunteers and groups throughout the community to fulfill the volunteer needs of the organization.
  • Select and onboard volunteer candidates. This includes facilitating various orientation sessions, reviewing applications, interviewing candidates, assessing appropriate roles and ensuring all training is completed.
  • Maintain volunteer records to ensure that they are up to date including annual background checks, annual training, annual performance evaluations, annual health check and ongoing communication efforts with volunteers.
  • Provide ongoing supervisory responsibilities for volunteers; addressing performance issues, recognizing successes and problem solving issues as they arise.
  • Represent Children's Health in interactions with the community at large through work with service groups, corporate donors, local schools/universities, the Women's Auxiliary to Children's Medical Center, non-profit service organizations, donors and many others.
  • Insure that all regulatory and compliance related policies, guidelines and procedures are followed. This includes education of staff in other departments and volunteers on how regulatory standards affect them.
  • Serve as a resource for organizational problem solving.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Social Services, Public Relations or Business, is required.

Dirk’s 2016 Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game will be on Friday, June 10 at 7PM. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster and the RoughRider box office.
 
The Dallas Mavericks’ 7-foot hoops superstar will trade in his basketball garb for cleats and a glove as he makes his annual trip to the baseball diamond.
 
Many of Dirk’s Mavs buddies will be there including Chandler Parsons, J.J. Barea, David Lee, Justin Anderson, Jeremy Evans, Raymond Felton,Devin Harris**, Wesley Matthews, Salah Mejri, JaVale McGee, Dwight Powell, Deron Williams**, Charlie Villanueva and coach Rick Carlisle**, plus former Dallas Mavericks Brian Cardinal and Jason Terry. Nationally acclaimed singer, songwriter and Broadway performer Shayna Steele will perform the National Anthem.
 
At 7 p.m., the Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game will get underway as the Blue Sox and White Sox all-stars and amateurs vie for the game trophy, bragging rights and the coveted MVP award. Between innings, game goers can enjoy stunts, interactive activities and other family-fun crowd pleasers. In addition, a 10-minute fireworks finale sponsored by BaylorScott&White Medical Center – Frisco will follow the game.
